Emailing Photos
This assumes you are running Windows XP
How
Open Windows Explorer and find the picture – viewing in thumbnails is easiest.
Right click the chosen photo and choose Send to / Mail recipient.
In the Send Pictures Via Email window, check that the Make All My Pictures Smaller button has the dot to show it’s active. Click OK.
You should now have a semi-prepared email displayed with the picture attachment.
Click in the text area of the email and delete all the text. You can now write your email message in here.
Insert the recipient’s address/name in the usual way.
Click Send.
Why
Sending unnecessarily large pictures by email is very bad form. They take forever to download, making the recipient wait for what seems to be eternity and when they finally have the picture it is too big for the screen. Bad!
Usually, pictures of postcard size on the screen are perfect and they print reasonably at this size.
Extra Notes
The more confident you are with Windows Explorer, the more easily you are able to do things with Windows generally. Learn about file sizes using the Details View and Thumbnails View for looking at groups of Pics.
If you select a handful of pics instead of one pic, all are converted and attached to the one email.
The Send Pictures Via Email window has Show more options. This allows larger pictures on the screen which may be useful if greater definition is required. An A4 page with writing on it may need to be sent as 1024 x 768 so that the writing is legible.
As with many editors, the email looks different when preparing it from how it will look to the recipient. Before sending, the created email has attachments in the attachment box but no picture display. You can check this by sending one to yourself and you will see the picture/s displayed below the text in the received email.
